"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first."

Musée D’Orsay - Paris

My favourite day in Paris was spent visiting the D’Orsay. It has an incredible collection of Impressionist pieces; one of my favourite periods. I stood in awe before Monet, Manet, Picasso, Seurat, Gauguin, and so many that I studied in art history from books. There they were, the canvases worked by legends of art, in all their beauty.I was enthralled with a class of young school children having art lessons before the original pieces. I watched for a time as they doodled away in notepads. I recalled back to hunkering over textbooks with minuscule pictures of the famous works and I wondered if those children knew how lucky they were to be nose to nose with history, to be living in a place with such a rich heritage.I can’t wait to go back. Also, am I the only person who obeyed the ‘No Photographs’ signs…

"'Nearly empty' Picasso museum open in Paris"

Came across this today and found it interesting. It’s only going to be open for a couple of days for now…but with most of the rooms empty, like a blank page or canvas, so visitors can just use their imagination. Could be quite a fascinating experiment!

How interesting. I would love to see that, and maybe even more so to watch other people as they see it. Paris has the most wonderful museums.

It would be so cool to see what people come up with, as well as what my own mind would picture.  I hope I get to visit Paris someday and take it all in.

Like the face that launched a thousand ships, the space that inspired a thousand pieces.

I hope you visit Paris Marie! It’s like an unending romantic dream.
